RainbowStats Command Reference
SOCRATA_META
Inspect the dataset and field definitions before choosing a Socrata series or cross section.
Syntax
SOCRATA_META("DatasetID")Returns a metadata table for one public dataset. Quote the dataset ID.
Example
SOCRATA_META("qwib-edaw")
Visits=SOCRATA("qwib-edaw","total_covid_daily")
LINE_CHART(Visits)
What the table contains
Dataset ID, title, type, portal, source URL, publisher, catalog update date, description excerpt, field count, and available time fields. Each ordinary field appears with its readable name, API header, type, description excerpt, and available units or display format. Numeric fields include a quoted SOCRATA command.
Using the metadata
Check the field description, source units, and entity/time fields before analysis. Read the source URL for complete definitions, methodology, license, update schedule, and archival status. A dataset update date does not describe the last populated date of every field.
